Starting your myofunctional therapy business can feel exciting—and totally overwhelming. One minute you’re dreaming big, the next you’re wondering where your clients are and if you even have what it takes. Sound familiar? You’re not alone. That’s why I created a no-fluff 90-day plan to help you move from “I hope this works” to “I’ve got this.”
In the latest Myo Life podcast episode, I walk you through the exact 3-part strategy I teach inside the Ditch Hygiene Academy™ to help new therapists build clarity, confidence, and consistency right out of the gate.
The First 30 Days: Lay the Foundation
This is your launchpad. These first 30 days are about more than just logistics; they’re about commitment and mindset. This is when you shift from “trying” to “doing.” You start showing up for your business, even if no one is watching yet. That starts with committing to your business hours (yes, even if you don’t have clients yet), getting clear on your dream client, and deciding what kind of business model aligns with the life you want.
Do you want a virtual practice? A local in-office setup? A hybrid model? These foundational decisions will shape how you market, who you attract, and how you grow. You’ll also work on your mindset—replacing imposter syndrome with belief in your ability to serve. As I say in the episode, stop saying “I’m trying to be a myofunctional therapist” and start declaring, “I am a myofunctional therapist.”
Days 31–60: Get Visible & Build Your Network
By now, you have structure. Now it’s time to start connecting. The second month is all about visibility and building the relationships that lead to referrals and paying clients. You’ll learn how to introduce yourself to potential partners like airway dentists, ENTs, orthodontists, and speech-language pathologists. Don’t overthink it—start with simple conversations. Your goal is to set up 3–5 referral calls and make sure your offer is crystal clear.
During this phase, you’ll also fine-tune how you talk about your services. Can you clearly explain what you do in under 10 seconds? Do you confidently share your prices without stumbling? If not, this is the time to practice. Use real-world feedback from consults to strengthen your message. Post on social media. Tell your friends and family. The more people who know what you do, the more opportunities will come your way.
Days 61–90: Take Imperfect Action
This is where the rubber meets the road. You’ve built the foundation and gained visibility—now it’s time to serve. In these final 30 days, you’re refining your systems, seeing your first clients, and learning as you go. You might be tweaking your intake forms, adjusting session flow, or refining how you onboard new clients. That’s all part of it.
You don’t need perfection—you need momentum. One of my favorite truths from this episode: “I can’t help you steer a parked car… you just have to show up and take imperfect action.” You’ll track what’s working, gather testimonials, and start to feel like a real business owner because you are one.
If you want the step-by-step system that gets you from trained to trusted faster, the Ditch Hygiene Academy™ was made for you. It’s helped hundreds of dental hygienists and aspiring myofunctional therapists build profitable, flexible, client-attracting businesses—without wasting time trying to figure it all out on their own.
