When people think about coaching, they often imagine motivational pep talks. But when I coach my students inside the Ditch Hygiene Academy™, it’s all about real strategies, practical systems, and mindset shifts that move the needle in your business.
This week I pulled back the curtain on what coaching actually looks like for myofunctional therapists — and I’m sharing three powerful takeaways you can use right now.
1. Treat Your Myofunctional Therapy Website Like a Business Tool
Too many myofunctional therapists waste months stressing over their website. Here’s the truth: you can absolutely build a six-figure business without one.
But if you’re going to have a site, it needs to work for you — not against you. That means choosing a platform that lets you grow, automate, and update easily. I built mine on WordPress with Divi, hosted on Bluehost. Was it fancy? Nope. But it gave me full control.
And don’t skip SEO. A website without SEO is like putting up a billboard in the desert. Blogging with keyword-rich content is one of the fastest ways to start showing up when people search for solutions you provide.
2. Know If You’re On Track in Growing Your Myofunctional Therapy Business (Hint: Forget Annual Goals)
Here’s something I teach over and over: you don’t need more than three essential priorities in your business at one time.
Instead of setting vague annual goals, I use the 12-week year framework. Why? Because it keeps my foot on the gas. When you work in shorter sprints, you create urgency and clarity.
Example: if I want to hit $75K in a quarter, I know how many exams I need to book, how many clients I need to enroll, and where I need to show up to make that happen. That’s what I call “myo math.” No guesswork. No drifting. Just priorities that line up with real revenue.
3. Stop Letting the “3 P’s” Kill Your Progress Inside Your Myofunctional Therapy business
This one hits close to home for dental hygienists, because so many of us fall into the trap of being “Type A+” perfectionists. The three P’s are:
People-pleasing (aka lack of boundaries)
Perfectionism
These sneaky habits are business killers. People-pleasing drains your calendar, perfectionism keeps you stuck, and procrastination is just fear in a fancy outfit.
One of my favorite reminders is:
Get comfortable with B plus work and start living into the concept that done is better than perfect—because perfection will keep you perfectly out of business.
Ugly, imperfect action will get you further than waiting around for perfect conditions.
The Bottom Line..
Coaching isn’t about giving you more to do. It’s about helping you focus on what matters most so you can earn more, work less, and finally build the life you’re bonkers about.
