5 Tips To Stay Motivated Building a Myofunctional Therapy Business

Motivation

Do you find it difficult to stay motivated and excited when you first decide to start your myofunctional therapy business?

I hear ya girl!  I was there.  It seems like just yesterday that I made the decision to make a career pivot and go chase something totally different.  Chase my big, hairy audacious dreams.  Leave the safety of that guaranteed (or mostly guaranteed) paycheck behind. Live and die by my own sword.

Between making the decision to start a myofunctional therapy business and doing it, I experienced some moments where my motivation and excitement seemed to wane.  It’s hard work.  There were days where I just wanted my day off to be my day off.  I daydreamed about browsing thrift shops or having long, slow lunches with my girlfriends.  But in reality, I was up before the sun thought about rising. Some days I wasn’t even sure if I’d combed my hair or brushed my teeth.

I was recently asked by a student of mine how I maintained the excitement and motivation to start my myofunctional therapy long after the newness wore off.  Long after you’d yelled it from the rooftops. Long after you’d proclaimed you were going to go do bold things.  You know, that time when everyone is just sitting back waiting for you to do what you said you’d do.

So I put together a list for you:

5 Tips To Stay Motivated Building a Myofunctional Therapy Business

#1 Revisit Your “Myofunctional Therapy Why”

If you’ve done my clarity tool or 7-layer dip exercise before then you know what I’m talking about.  We all get stuck in the negative trap of knowing what we don’t want out of life, but we often struggle with what we want and why.  Sit down and get quiet.  Listen.  Hear your why.  Hear your purpose.

I was recently asked by a student of mine how I maintained the excitement and motivation to start my myofunctional therapy long after the newness wore off.

#2 Embrace an Abundance Mindset

I get it.  When you’re starting out you gotta be scrappy.  It’s natural to feel a bit desperate and it’s hard to stay motivated when you are afraid there isn’t enough to go around.  Living from an abundant mindset has made such an incredible difference in my business and my personal life.  Trust me, folks, there is enough to go around and if you know deep in your gut that just the right people will come your way at just the right time with just the right amount of money, you are going to have a beautiful, fulfilling business.  I read the books, You Are a Badass and You Are a Badass At Making Money during the startup of my business.  She has a great way of helping you reframe your mindset so that you operate from a place of abundance, not scarcity.

#3  Helping My Myofunctional Therapy Tribe

Nothing gets you back on the excitement track faster than talking with a potential client who you know you can help.  When you’re losing motivation and excitement get down in the trenches and help people.  Provide value to them.  I didn’t become known as the myofunctional educator extraordinaire overnight or because I didn’t care about my peeps.  I got that title for working tirelessly day in and day out to help people.  Don’t focus on money.  Focus on helping whoever it is you are trying to help.  You will be rewarded with abundance.

#4 Keep To a Schedule

One of the things that I have my yearlong students do is keep to a schedule.  This means setting your biz hours and working during those hours, even when you don’t have a client.  This isn’t grocery time.  This isn’t Facebook time.  It’s your business time and by sticking to a schedule you will see the needle move on the important stuff, which will, in turn, motivate and excite you.

#5 Focus On Your Big 3

If you’ve had the opportunity to work with my productivity planner or my triumph appraisals, then you know what the big 3 are.  In a nutshell, the big 3 are the high-level tasks that must be done each week to continue moving forward to meet your monthly, quarterly, and annual goals.  These aren’t minutia, these aren’t boring office tasks.  These are major tasks that will motivate you because you can see the fruits of your labor!

I hope the “5 Tips To Stay Motivated Building a Myofunctional Therapy Business” that I’ve shared with you find a way into your daily practice.  Whether it is your gratitude practice or your daily schedule or your to-do list, I wholeheartedly believe that you will find a way to reignite your motivation and excitement for your new myofunctional therapy business!

Frequently Asked Questions

What if I've taken another course?

If you've taken another course and don't feel prepared to dip your toes in, then we recommend that you invest in another course.  We've got many students who've taken multiple courses and found that our course and leadership were the bomb-diggidy that finally made things click!

Will this course give me business training too?

The Ditch Hygiene Program was designed to give you the myofunctional therapy foundation as well as learn how to start / run your business.  Throughout the entire course, you learn exactly what Carmen did to build a multi 6-figure business (soon to be 7 figure business).  Plus, you will also have several interviews and business case studies from other therapists about their own business journey.

What sets this program apart from others?

What makes the Ditch Hygiene Academy different?

The leadership of Carmen.  She empowers, educates, and encourages you along the way...while helping you become a myofunctional problem solver.  The Ditch Hygiene Academy doesn't just lure you in and leave you.  Our program leads you.  The testimony speaks volumes.

Carmen never tops mentoring and coaching you.  Your success is her success.  This is a high-touch premium level program.  There is only room for go-getters!  Carmen shows you the path and teaches you to believe in yourself, your process, and the possibilities of what life can bring!!

This program is absolutely the only one of it's kind that offers practical application for both therapy and business.  You work alongside other ambitious women who are exactly where you are...at the beginning!  Carmen is there every step of the way, from mock clients, practice clients to a real life apprenticeship!

How long can I access the material?

Your teaching cohort will be 24 weeks long, and longer if you choose to uplevel for stage 4 or 5 training.  You will have access to all materials for that length+ an additional 30 days to tie up loose ends.  If you enroll as a gold level member, you get access for the lifetime of the course! All information will be located inside your course agreement when you enroll.

Who can take the course?

Dental hygienists. We ask for proof of your credentials before finalizing your enrollment.

Do I have to get "certified"?

While there is an option in some programs to get a "certificate", it is not necessary, nor does the training guarantee your success.  Currently, myofunctional therapy is written (by the ADHA) into the scope of practice.  This means you need to get the myofunctional education, but it doesn't mean you have to pay the high expense of a "certification" program.  If you see the need for this certification, then you should seek out those programs and compare expenses to do so.  Our program has had a successful mix of those who wanted to do both.  Let's face it...you will get your education from many sources...myofunctional therapy education is not a "one and done" type of learning sequence! The Ditch Hygiene Academy is not a "certification" program and does not endorse or recommend any program.

Training does not = competency.  Keep that in mind.  It takes experience to have competency!

How will I reach people?

You learn many different tactics in the program.  There are primarily three different ways that clients were introduced to us.  1) Hygiene patient 2) Found via a search 3 ) Referred to us

You also learn about our story and how we were able to build a team and teach people.  Networking and marketing strategy is part of the step-by-step roadmap provided for you by this program.

What if I don't like the program?

We are pretty serious about our passion to help only the serious folks.  Since this is a digital course, we do not offer a refund because you get immediate access to the material.  Please make sure you have thought your decision through before registering!  Because once you do...she is yours!!  Want to take a sneek peek?  Here is a peek at lesson 1, 5 and 8.
